The software week in review for May 16: What you need to know about the latest developments



Assess the third party's information security program. Determine whether the third party has sufficient experience in identifying, assessing, and mitigating known and emerging threats and vulnerabilities. When technology is necessary to support service delivery, assess the third party's infrastructure and application security programs, including the software development life cycle and results of vulnerability and penetration tests. Evaluate the third party's ability to implement effective and sustainable corrective actions to address deficiencies discovered during testing.

Ensure that the contract specifies the nature and scope of the arrangement. For example, a third-party contract should specifically identify the frequency, content, and format of the service, product, or function provided. Include in the contract, as applicable, such ancillary services as software or other technology support and maintenance, employee training, and customer service. Specify which activities the third party is to conduct, whether on or off the bank's premises, and describe the terms governing the use of the bank's information, facilities, personnel, systems, and equipment, as well as access to and use of the bank's or customers' information. When dual employees will be used, clearly articulate their responsibilities and reporting lines.7


Fully describe compensation, fees, and calculations for base services, as well as any fees based on volume of activity and for special requests. Ensure the contracts do not include burdensome upfront fees or incentives that could result in inappropriate risk taking by the bank or third party. Indicate which party is responsible for payment of legal, audit, and examination fees associated with the activities involved. Consider outlining cost and responsibility for purchasing and maintaining hardware and software. Specify the conditions under which the cost structure may be changed, including limits on any cost increases.


State whether and how the third party has the right to use the bank's information, technology, and intellectual property, such as the bank's name, logo, trademark, and copyrighted material. Indicate whether any records generated by the third party become the bank's property. Include appropriate warranties on the part of the third party related to its acquisition of licenses for use of any intellectual property developed by other third parties. If the bank purchases software, establish escrow agreements to provide for the bank's access to source code and programs under certain conditions (e.g., insolvency of the third party).

The NINDS is interested in a broad range of disorders affecting the brain and nervous system ( _ninds/ninds_overview.htm) and has a strong interest in the development of methods and measurements to optimize research in studies of patients with neurological disorders. Particular areas of interest include (but are not limited to) the development of: 1) methods for integrating multiple types of behavioral measurement data obtained from behaving humans, 2) the development of mobile devices/software capable of measuring neurophysiological behaviors relevant to neurological disease, and 3) accurate and reliable tools/methods for streamlining and simplifying the measurement and analysis of outcome behaviors in clinical trials of patients with neurological disorders. Applications containing clinical trials will not be accepted by the NINDS as part of this FOA. Applicants interested in conducting a clinical trial should see the NINDS Office of Clinical Research website: _research/index.htm#tab3-panel .


Applicant organizations must complete and maintain the following registrations as described in the SF 424 (R&R) Application Guide to be eligible to apply for or receive an award. All registrations must be completed prior to the application being submitted. Registration can take 6 weeks or more, so applicants should begin the registration process as soon as possible. The NIH Policy on Late Submission of Grant Applications states that failure to complete registrations in advance of a due date is not a valid reason for a late submission.


All PD(s)/PI(s) must have an eRA Commons account. PD(s)/PI(s) should work with their organizational officials to either create a new account or to affiliate their existing account with the applicant organization in eRA Commons. If the PD/PI is also the organizational Signing Official, they must have two distinct eRA Commons accounts, one for each role. Obtaining an eRA Commons account can take up to 2 weeks.


Part I. Overview Information contains information about Key Dates and times. Applicants are encouraged to submit applications before the due date to ensure they have time to make any application corrections that might be necessary for successful submission. When a submission date falls on a weekend or Federal holiday, the application deadline is automatically extended to the next business day.


Applicants requesting $500,000 or more in direct costs in any year (excluding consortium F&A) must contact a Scientific/ Research Contact at least 6 weeks before submitting the application and follow the Policy on the Acceptance for Review of Unsolicited Applications that Request $500,000 or More in Direct Costs as described in the SF424 (R&R) Application Guide.


Data collection for Phase 3.7 of the Household Pulse Survey started on December 9, 2022 and is scheduled to continue until February 13, 2023. Phase 3.7 will continue with a two-weeks on, two-weeks off collection and dissemination approach. The links below will take you to the downloadable tables in XLSX for each release period.


Note: Phase 1 of the Household Pulse Survey was collected and disseminated on a weekly basis. All later phases of the survey have used two-week collection and dissemination periods. Despite going to a two-week collection period, the Household Pulse Survey continues to call these collection periods "weeks" to maintain continuity. Phases 3.3 and later maintain the two-week collection periods but shifted to a two-weeks on, two-weeks off collection approach. As a result there will continue to be three data collection and dissemination cycles instead of six for Phase 3.7.


Health Table 5b. COVID-19 Vaccinations for Children Ages 12-17, by Select Characteristics for Phase 3.2 (week 34 through week 39) and its associated standard error table were removed and replaced on December 1, 2021 because of a table sourcing error. No matter how polished a software update may seem, a few bugs are bound to slip through the cracks. It's why Apple sometimes releases a "point update" shortly after a major update, to fix issues like:


If you're on iOS 15 and a person running iOS 16 attempts to recall a text message they sent to you, they won't be able to. Instead, they'll receive a message that says "You unsent a message. They may still see the message on devices where the software hasn't been updated."


Regardless of any hesitations you might have, if you do want to jump in, there are plenty of reasons to just go ahead and update to iOS 16. Aside from all the new features you may benefit from, Apple's major software updates may fix bugs and other issues in previous iterations.


The benchmark ended the week in negative territory, although there were no sharp drops. We can clearly see that on Wednesday, the ETF opens with a gap and tries to make a green bar. Unfortunately, it does not close on the high for the day. On the following day, the benchmark again opens with a big gap, but this time on the downside and stays in this area till the last day of the week.


New week, new high for the US Oil ETF (NYSE:USO). Obviously, the first two days were not so promising for the ETF, but on the third day of the week, it jumped to the skies making a new high. However, on the last day, the index finished with a red bar and took a $0.16 hit. Nevertheless, the ETF continues its bullish trend since the middle of February.
